This Special Issue explores the decolonisation of African institutions, inviting critical scholarship and creative frameworks rooted in indigenous knowledge, equitable partnerships, and sustainable autonomy to build a transformative future.
Dear Colleagues
This Special Issue on Decolonising African Institutions invites experts, researchers, academics and scholars to contribute multidisciplinary research that critically examines inherited colonial frameworks and proposes transformative, African-centred models for governance, education, research, innovation, industry, finance, religion, science, culture and other institutional sectors. The issue seeks to foster authentic African agency, equitable global partnerships and sustainable institutional autonomy while contributing to global conversations on decolonisation.
Overview
Sequel to the Dialogic Dialogue (2D) on Decolonising African Institutions, this Special Issue was created to enable experts, researchers, academics and scholars to contribute research articles, reviews, case studies and other scholarly works on the topic. It explores the structural, historical, epistemic and operational dimensions of decolonisation within African institutions and encourages contributions that challenge inherited colonial frameworks while proposing transformative models rooted in indigenous knowledge systems, equitable global collaboration, sustainable institutional autonomy, and innovative theories for building a new African civilisation. Manuscripts related to STEM will be published in the Dialogic STEM Journal, while Arts and Humanities manuscripts will be published in the Dialogic Society Journal. All submissions will undergo a single-blind peer-review process, requiring recommendations from at least two experts before acceptance.
Scope and Objectives
The Special Issue seeks to advance multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary dialogue on how African institutions can reimagine their institutions, infrastructures, mandates, methodologies, systems and partnerships to reflect authentic African agency. Authors are encouraged to position their manuscripts within the framework of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
