Sports is one thing many people across the globe tend to agree on. This special issue invites scholars, researchers, academics, and practitioners to connect sports with wider systems of innovation, policy, wellbeing, business, governance, and development.

Overview

This special issue brings together cutting-edge research, scholarship, and practice in sports at the intersection of interdisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, and multidisciplinarity.

Interdisciplinary approaches integrate theories and methods across disciplines, multidisciplinary approaches combine parallel contributions from different disciplines, and transdisciplinary approaches co-create knowledge with stakeholders beyond academia.

Scope and Objectives

Accelerate progress toward improving sports research, innovations, and commercialisation through systems thinking.
Strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the sports industry and society.
Integrate indigenous and local knowledge systems in sports, exercise, and recreation.
Advance sporting policies, programmes, and governance in developing countries.
Promote equitable, inclusive, and resilient sports development pathways and partnerships.

Topics of Interest

Topics include sports engineering and technologies, sports sciences, health and wellbeing, nutrition, education, policy, programmes, politics of sports, socioeconomics, finance, management, psychology, grassroots and recreational sports, environmental impacts of sports infrastructure, business, merchandising, rehabilitation, law, broadcasting, advertising, marketing, philosophy of sports, youth sports, and gender, equity, ethnicity, and race in sports.
